I’m a physicist in Ljubljana who likes understanding how things work—and leaving them a little better than I found them.
Reading
I enjoy modern French and English-language literature, and the pleasure of getting properly absorbed in a book.
Some favourite authors: Jean-Paul Dubois, Michel Houellebecq, Virginie Despentes, Kazuo Ishiguro, Paul Theroux, Ian McEwan, Haruki Murakami, Jonathan Franzen, Percival Everett, Philip Roth, and Bill Bryson.
Running & cycling
Long-distance running and cycling are my ways of getting out from behind a desk. There’s something satisfying about covering a distance under your own steam.
At the workbench
I collect and repair vintage test and measurement equipment, especially Keithley and Hewlett-Packard instruments from the 1970s through the 1990s. I enjoy figuring out how an instrument was designed, why it stopped working, and how to put it back into use.

My listening ranges from punk, new wave, and indie to world music. I especially enjoy hearing music live.

I’m a fan of open source software, open hardware, and open science. I value tools and ideas that people can understand, adapt, repair, and share.
Making something better is satisfying. Making it useful to someone else is better still.
